Fabulous Post And Beam Technique In Building Pergolas
I have learned something quite fascinating from a company I have been watching for a couple of years. It is a small company, but it has been such a grand break through with something that I have had trouble solving with my own company. And for this reason, I decided to go scouting to find a company that would work well with mine for us to contract together to find out what is going on with our pergolas. I finally found the company of: Western Timber Frame. I have been amazed about more than just the work ethics and the techniques. Their friendship was formed immediately upon meeting them. They are honest hardworking men and I admire them tremendously.
Anyway, the problem I have had with my own pergolas have been when the weather changes and I find that the joints that my pergolas have had part and make the post and beams gape and look unprofessional. I am a professional, but I have yet to solve the problem. Well, until now. Anyway, what I found with Western Timber Frame, is that they have a technique called the “dovetail joint” that allows for the contracting and expanding of the timber when the weather changes. What the dovetail joint does is it allows for the contracting and expansion but, sort of pushes it behind the scenes so you can’t really tell it is really happening. The notch is done in such a way that it looks professional and well done. I am so impressed and that is why I wanted to share it with all of you.
