What makes having a chicken coup so desirable to ordinary surban and city dwellers today.
Personally I have chickens just for the eggs but one of the latest trends is to raise and then eat your own chickens for food.It is understandable, I mean I buy organic chicken all the time and the taste difference is incredible. It depends on where I purchase. If i purchase from a large chain supplier the taste difference is very noticable and much nicer than usual normal chicken.
The Taste Sensation Difference…..Really comes up when I go to a organic supply shop (sometimes it is frozen due to lack of supply) The taste is incredible..unbelievable. Especially if I make Thai or even just fry thei chicken in the traditional Thai curry herbs.It is so nice however at $14.00 for a few tiny bits of chicken I don’t indulge too often.
So I guess people like to keep and eat there own chickens. I mean look at Gordon Ramsay. He keeps his own pigs.
Back to…. why chicken coups are so popular. I think it is the eggs, they are so much tastier than bought ones. You can feed your chickens all you scraps. They love it and produce such nice eggs.
I think if you live in an urban environment all the more reason to plan your chicken coups well. Good chicken coup conditions are essential to small flocks living in the urban environment and can be the difference between happy chicken days or complaining neighbours.
