Choose only good Christian resources
Is it just me, or are most of the books, music and movies coming out these days not at all conducive to my Christian believing ways? Even the people who profess to be religious are releasing crap that I wouldn’t wish on any of my kids. I guess it’s just a sign of times, just like the Good Book says.
My personal belief is that it’s not easy to be a Christian in these modern times. I love good entertainment, but it’s just not that easy to find it now. No matter where you look, businesses have succumbed to the big media monster that throws up partially digested trash onto store shelves wherever it goes. Are these really the kinds of resources that we want to expose the next generation to?
Let me suggest a few Christian resources that are much better suited to the lifestyle that Christians want to live. First up: the Bible. That might be obvious, but many people are choosing trashy romance novels over the Bible. That’s just disgraceful. Other people would rather spend their time reading US magazine than the Bible – a shocking revelation that would make your grandmother roll over in her grave.
Wouldn’t our time be much better spent reading scholarly articles by professors of religion at major Christian universities? I tend to think so. My family has tried to do that for the past 5 years and I think we have become smarter and more in tune with good things. You may think we are weird, but we like it.
