Day #26 (Friday, Jan 29, 2010) - Baby Comments

I came home from work this evening and little Katie was greeting me at the window!  Of course my wife was holding her up and she had that “what in the world is going on” look on her face, but it brought back memories of some of the television shows that I used to watch when I was a kid.  You know, the “Father Knows Best” and “Leave It To Beaver” type shows.  Never realized what it would be like to be a dad coming home from work and having your children greet you til now…

I was playing with little Katie this evening and she was smiling at me.  The “milk truck” arrived and sat on the bed, so little Katie lost interest in daddy real fast.  Daddy Who…that’s my name…

My wife said that she would like to have dinner before Katie starts crying.  I said not to worry…she won’t start crying until she hears me bringing the food from the kitchen.  Sure enough…

Little Katie was fussing this evening and I tried to calm her down.  If she is hungry, then nothing but a feeding will suffice.  Other than that, sometimes you can distract her and she will quiet down.  Want to know what her favorite toy is?  That’s a picture of it on the left.  It’s an adjustable lamp on a pole.  If you move the lamp around little Katie will follow it with her eyes.  She is literally fascinated with it.  This evening I let her touch it with her hands…not sure what she thought.  Maybe she is frightened by it?  If so, it’s funny she doesn’t cry.  Let’s just say that she is fascinated by it for now…

I just noticed something else.  If you stop moving the lamp around, but rock her in her “bouncy seat” (great baby product), she quiets down as well.  When you think about it, since she is bouncing around, and her head is moving, to her the lamp is the thing that is still moving….

A storm is a coming and it looks like we might be “house bound” for couple of days.

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY ———————————— 1)  Our babies favorite toy is a lamp…
