Have Mice? Don’t Delay in Exterminating
There are many things you do not want in your home and one of those things is mice. They are very filthy creatures that basically come into your home and take over. Eating discarded food in the trash and leaving their droppings throughout your home, which can cause serious health problems. Some often ignore the signs of infestation and fail to take care of the problem in a timely matter because of various reasons, one being financial. The cost of extermination is well worth protecting your family from the potential health hazards associated with these rodents.
Before putting off the extermination of mice, consider their breeding capabilities and what this can do to your home. A typical mouse can become pregnant at the age of 4 weeks and in a typical year have 10 litters that produce 5-6 young. With each litter there is a potential for astronomical amounts of breeding and if left unchecked can cause a serious infestation before you know it. That is why it is important to catch the cycle early, when there are only a few, instead of waiting until they possibly number in the hundreds.
The potential health hazards alone that mice can cause in the home should motivate anyone to exterminate them quickly and efficiently. While there are not very many diseases that they themselves carry, they do carry mites and fleas that have diseases, which can then be transferred to you and your family. In keeping with transference, if their droppings contaminate food or food preparation areas in the home, contracting salmonella is possible. The Hantavirus, which is a rare disease that is making a recent comeback, is spread through dust contaminated by droppings or urine.
Aside from health issues to your family, mice can cause damage to your home itself. They seem to mistake wires and cables for roots and with their sharp incisors have no problem gnawing right through them, which can cause short circuits or even a fire. For these reasons and many more, it is imperative that an exterminator be called in as soon as mice are detected in the home.
