Out Of Town Buyers Now Have a New Tool
The Street View application from Google received mixed reviews when it was first launches. While some critics felt that it was an invasion of privacy, most people thought it was a great tool with which to visit various neighborhoods right from your computer. To address the privacy concerns, Google chose to blur out the license plates on vehicles and as well as the face of anyone who happened to be in the photos. This great application was only available in a a few select urban centers across North America but now can be used in over 150 cities in Canada. One segment that welcomed this new tool was real estate agents. For agents working with out of town clients, the Google Street View is a very useful application. Someone relocating to the Greater Toronto Area from Winnipeg could explore the Alton Village for example from the comfort of their home. An agent could send MLS listings to the out of town buyer and then point him to Street View to explore the area around the listing. The potential buyer can then look at neighboring homes, get a feel for the street and the area as well as locate parks and playground areas. Real estate agents can now work with buyers in a more productive way thanks to this new application. A client can make a more informed decision of which houses to visit based on these photos rather than drive to a location only to find out that the street is not what he had in mind. Properties to visit would be based not only on the houses themselves but also on the feel of the street and the neighboring homes.
