Unfinished Louvered Folding Closet Doors

Louvered Folding Closet Doors are offered by many retailers with options including sliding doors, bypass doors, unfinished wood, mirrored panels, accordion style doors and retractable doors. The most common materials through online retailers for louvered folding closet doors are polymer and wood. Polymer doors are offered at lower prices than solid wood, as solid wood is always quite pricey. Hollow wood doors are comparable in prices to polymer doors, and hold up just as well as solid wood. The most common type of louvered folding closet doors for small areas are retractable and accordion doors, while the most popular type for larger areas are bypass and multifold doors.

When it comes to deciding factors for your closet doors, dimensions have a major part in the decision. If your closets measure in width less than 48 inches, you would be unable to use bypass or sliding doors due to the required area for the panels. Modern homes generally have closet door ways with dimensions of at least 48 inches, so options for using sliding or multifold doors are still open. However, in many older homes built in the early 1900’s and prior, the closets range in size from 18 inches to 74 inches. Measuring your closet doorway is imperative to finding the right doors for your closet.

Bypass doors can be used on any closet area that measures 48 inches or more, as the smallest premade bypass doors are 24 inches each. You can have custom doors created that are smaller, but the cost may not be worth the finished product. Bifold doors cover the same space and are available in the same dimensions as bypass doors, and are available in the louvered designs that so many homeowners are seeking. Modern doorways are capable of receiving sliding doors, bifold doors and even accordion and multifold or retractable doors in all areas. Contemporary style standards allow for bifold, multifold and even unfinished wood to have mirrored panels for customization.

Contemporary styles for interior closets vary by the area in which you live. For rural areas, the interior doors can be unfinished with no varnish and are acceptable in this fashion. However in areas where fashions are not only shown inside but outside as well, unfinished wood doors are not acceptable. When creating your contemporary new look, the closet doors should not be ignored. Even with the nicest accents in a room, a nice Shoji door can add grace to even the darkest of rooms. The doors you choose can be customized by adding mirror panels or tiles, frosted glass or smoked glass and even plexiglass for a personalized look. Painting a door different colors to match the color scheme in the room or even adding wallpaper to the entire door front to match the walls will create the illusion of having no door at all for those rooms that have unattractive doors already in place. Revamping your own doors instead of replacing them will still give your home equity, but replacing them completely with new doors and styles will add more value to the home overall.
